Missouri Southern football has only to look to the future. The 2018 season for the Lions has been brutal. From Head Coach Denver Johnson stepping down earlier this season among a long losing streak which was finally snapped at 20-games with a victory over Northeastern State. The Riverhawks are 0-10 this season. But a victory for Missouri Southern over their MIAA rival Pittsburg State in the Miners Bowl this season could be the breakthrough the Lions need to look towards next season. Sports Reporter for the Joplin Globe, Jared Porter believes that a Southern upset of Pitt State is unlikely on Saturday but he has seen improvements in a Southern team which has little to play for me.
