The curator of ‘At Ease: A Veteran Contemporary’ knows about war. Having completed two tours of duty in Iraq during his service in the US Air Force from 1999 until 2008 artist Aaron Shapik know firsthand about the difficulties of transitioning back into American society. And about dealing with the Veterans Administration. His exhibit, ‘At Ease’ now available for viewing at The Spiva Center For The Arts in Joplin, Mo through Saturday, October 6 was created to be a conversation starter for Veterans like himself who struggled to find their place after their military service. And a connection point for visitors who have a challenging time understanding the difficultly that Veterans can face when they are trying to find a new ‘post-service’normal in American society.
